If you are a so-called spam fighter, you would know a lot of ways to hide your email address from spambots. You might be using HTML character entities, Javascript approach or any other methods to make your email address non-readable by those robots but readable to human beings. Some methods are very, very effective, some aren't so. Spambots might get smarter and smarter every day.
So, I'm about to introduce a whole new way of hiding your email address, which is by using the CSS technology. This method is not 100% effective but it's worth trying anyway. Below is an example.
Lim Chee Aun
HTML codes:
<p id="email">Lim Chee Aun</p>
CSS codes:
#email:after{
/* \40 is a character entity for the '@' symbol */
content: " <cheeaun\40phoenity.com>";
}
Ok, you might think this to be ridiculous for using the id attribute of the p tag and assigning a style block to it. Personally, I would implement this to the address tag instead.
HTML codes:
<address>© 2003 Lim Chee Aun</address>
CSS codes:
address:after{
/* \40 is a character entity for the '@' symbol */
content: " <cheeaun\40phoenity.com>";
}
There you go. I hope spambots wouldn't get any smarter than this!
